Your Natal Chart & this New Moon
First thing first. If you want to know where New + Full Moons are occurring in your specific chart, you’ll need to pull your chart here if you don’t have it already. You can also learn much more about your Natal Chart through the Intro To Astro Course (included in this membership).
You’ll notice the numbers outside of the wheel. This is the degree of your House Cusps. Every sign has 30 degrees, 0 to 29. Like I mention in the Intro To Astro Course, I use Equal Houses, which means that every House Cusp is at the same degree.
This New Moon occurs at 12 Degrees Capricorn. If you have, let’s say, Aquarius on the 10th House Cusp at 20 Degrees Capricorn, then this will fall in your 9th House. But if you have Capricorn on the 10th House Cusp at 5 Degrees Capricorn, then this New Moon would actually fall in your 10th House.
This adds a layer of interpretation for how this New Moon will affect you personally.
Danielle’s New Moon in Capricorn Reflection
This New Moon, on the heel of a New Year, invites structure into our lives. We all need some kind of container. Some we’re born into, some we gravitate towards and some we consciously adopt. Scrolling through our phones can find us thirsting after every experience, aesthetic sensibility, lifestyle or destination. But the truth is that each of our lives carries with it a particular destiny, a kind of form. If we try to erect it out of desperation or fear, we lose sight of the journey itself. It’s the undfolding itself that gives shape to our lives. Adulting is the act of choosing into certain responsibilities, gifting our lives shape and substance. The more we avoid such commitments, the more we avoid ourselves. It can be to a goal, a person, a concept. It’s the act itself.
We have the Sun and Moon conjunct. Saturn, Capricorn’s ruler, is in Aquarius. Venus and Pluto are beginning to separate in Capricorn as well. This energy is meaty, deep, profound… and weighted.
Saturn is not so affectionately referred to as Father Time. We feel its limits and delays when it’s hitting a sensitive part of our chart. But we also feel its rewards. Discipline - from the root disciple - is at the heart of learning. Dedication and effort do pay off. And ultimately prove more gratifying than the quick fixes and hacks we desire.
This lunation is that opportunity to re-root. New Lunar Month. New Year. Beneath the pressure of New Year Resolutions, let us take a moment to reflect on the containers of our lives and how much, in giving to them, they give to us.

AFFIRMATION (S)
I am the mountain
JOURNAL PROMPTS
What does the word responsibility mean to me?
What are my responsibilities?
How do I relate to these responsibilities? Do I feel burdened, for example, or substantiated by them?
Another way of exploring this: do I avoid responsibility or embrace it?
Can I take a moment to clarify my deeper commitments, to write them down here?
How can I support myself in staying true to the above?
SETTING INTENTIONS
Intentions differ from goals. While goals are action oriented, intentions express how we want to experience our goals. This heightens their power. For example, we may have a goal of reaching a certain weight, but the weight is simply a number. An intention grants us more agency. I always recommend starting an intention with some variation of “I am gracefully finding myself…” For example, “I am gracefully finding myself feeling lean, flexible, healthy and fit. I am gracefully finding myself loving the way my body feels and my clothes fit.” And because Spirit /The Universe/God is so much wiser and intelligent than we are, I also always include “This Or Something Better For The Highest Good Of All Concerned,” something I learned in my training. This allows us a deeper level of trust and surrender.
